Review: Ulfheimr: The Dark Age
By Mattias boekrbikkja
When Christopher Thorolf Bjornsen published Ulfheimr: The Tenth World, he set a remarkable standard for a modern-day Norse saga that had no peer in published literature: faithful to ancient Norse culture to a degree not matched even by the historical sagas, written in a manner simultaneously engaging and yet mysterious, and evocative of a masculinity so rarely found in today’s Western world. In Ulfheimr: The Dark Age, the second installment in the Ulfheimr trilogy, the author has produced another master-work that takes its place with its predecessor with no decrease in impact.
Set largely in the present-day world, The Dark Age draws its title from the degeneration and collapse of Western society viewed from the perspective of ancestral Norse culture, contextualizing that decay from a cultural perspective unique in literature, and providing insights into a world hidden from the eyes of the great majority. Mr. Bjornsen’s intensely personal history and struggles are narrated with a remarkable candor, demonstrating in his sufferings and achievements the quintessential Norse fatalism that accepts the way of things while seeing in them the sources of strength and personal excellence. As with his first book, historical events are woven in an atemporal manner with expected future events in a timelessness evocative of prophecy, a view of time seen almost from outside the day-to-day unfolding of time typical of human experience. Aspects of Norse mythology, cosmology, and prophecy are expounded from the insider’s perspective, that of the man who has lived that culture and worldview all his life, providing an understanding of the ancient stories and myths guaranteed to surprise, and even astound, the reader.
Any man with an appreciation of Norse mythology and Viking culture cannot afford not to have this book and its predecessor on his shelf. For a sobering, no-holds-barred examination of the recent trends and turns in the Western world viewed from an ancestral and evolutional perspective, this book is unique, and its unfiltered presentation of immemorial Norse culture, especially lived in a modern context, cannot be missed, and its galvanizing impact on the very soul of the reader must be experienced to be understood.
From the very first chapter, 'The Dark Age' brings us a stark reminder of what our world has become in the face of Christianity, progressivism, and women who wish to see the world burn. Through Chris' eyes we get a glimpse at the depravity of toxic women and the ideologies they spew. We see a world where intact males are tossed to the side, and traditional traits/values are seen as problems to be corrected.
Amidst the darkness we also get to see great examples of men and warriors. Chris brings light to some of the darkest, most personal moments of his life, showing us that we are not obligated to be victims or to accept the bullshit around us. We can make the choice to embrace who we are as men and rise above it all. It provides something to strive for and to look up to, especially if you relate to certain events within the book.
In the most basic sense we are reminded to be men, look out for our brothers, and never stop fighting for what is right and just. The imagery and metaphors provide for excellent reading and deep thought. This was a great piece of literature and I look forward to the third book.
This book has an immersive look into not only Norse culture and intact male identity, but how the West has fallen from the worlds superpower do too toxic ideology that is pushed on us. You find yourself reading and not able to stop because every page and chapter has information that explains how Nordmadr see things.
Þórolfr is the best author I have ever read not allowing popular opinion of outside forces to change and censor his writings going as far as losing money to get it out to us as uncensored as possible. He even goes so in-depth with conveying how he feels that you can feel almost every story in the book like you are right there experiencing the hel he has been through.
The insight into our future is dark and thus the title of the book. Price of the book is well worth the information and knowledge he has put out there with the book.
Vi er Nordmenn.
If you are an entirely intact male, then “The Dark Age” is a book you simply cannot miss reading. All chapters and stories in the book are related in that all of them show contributing factors or direct causes to why our western civilization is about to fall. From its humble roots in the major city states in ancient greece like Sparta to its eventual elimination due to factors like an feminized society, invasion of islam, loss of genes in the great wars, corporate rot, and an inferior set of values brought by christianity for a more then a millenia and many more.
Throughout the entire book this is shown through the one simple fact, Good men are being destroyed by this society psychologically, financially, and very soon will simply either just be castrated or killed. The book highlights who our common enemies are from Hajis to Steve Jobs this book covers it.
As men, how could we let this happen… simple, we let women have a say in matters of importance which has led to them having authority over all matters in society simply because they have a cunt, from high level political and military positions to school teachers. Women at every level are destroying intact men. Throughout the book it is shown again and again how women have infiltrated and destroyed everything we hold dear.
As you read through the book and are privileged to have a look into Chris’ life, you can see in particular how society has treated him, in particular toxic women who have lost their nurturing values and have only one goal in life. To destroy men and boys at any cost. This is shown through Chris’ foster mother both physically and psychologically abusing him to her own pleasure. A nasty example of what is common nowadays.
His teachers in school are yet another example of just how foul modern females can be when they observed his sorrow over the loss of his bro and decided to laugh at him.
I can relate to this as a man who had the horror of having to grow up in vancouver. Being treated like a psycho, locked away, getting labels like ADHD or Aspergers syndrome etc by female psychologists who simply had a job based on the ownership of a cunt. For just simply being a normal boy with masculine traits.
Aside from witnessing the horrors that the modern world has inflicted on young men through reading Chris’ story. We can see what it is to be a true vikingar from seeing what men are like in the org. And through observing how the org treats their men with the utmost care and how men in the org perform better than the rest of the world, Men can see role models they can really strive for. Especially when it comes to the Hybrids, ultimate men whom all men should look up to guide us out of this dark age.
And what i took from “The Dark Age” is that yes life has been shitty for us men for many decades now, but that does not mean that we can’t shine still, even though the whole world is against us, we still have the strength that our ancestors have passed onto us, with that we need to use that to regroup, Disengage, and outlast Ragnarok.
If there is one thing that all men can take from this book, it is that there is still hope that we can survive the oncoming storm and that good men will rule the North again.
This book is amazing, there is no way to describe the sense of Norse culture and belonging prevalent in both books. as has been said before by many of my bros, the art work is amazing. the book quality is worth the price. the emotion is enough to bring you to tears and the humor will have you laughing out loud. the insite to our properly fucked up world is not only amazing to read but makes me personally feel like I am not alone.
There is a lot to learn from this book, and all men should read both of the Ulfheimr books, to give them inspiration and to bring them back to the way of things.
The dark ages is violent and beautiful. a pure work of art though and through, and I am personally lucky to own it for the rest of my life. this book along with the other and eventually the third. WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. thank you Chris for this amazing literature.
One of the greatest books of all time not just because grammar but content of book. It shows true Norse culture as well as an insight into Spartans as well giving the reader an actually good source for Old Norse culture. As others have said it gives great insight into the dark future of our world but whether we can avoid it now that we know a little more is hard to say as it doesn’t just tell us but shows us how this happened, why it happened, and where to go from here if you read closely. It connects very well from the previous book in terms of the tie ins but isn’t too blatant while making the reader have to pay attention in order to make the connections. It starts with action but with a somber note and ends in almost the same way, it’s gripping and soul-wrenching with some of the greatest insight into future events but has enough hope in the pages for some. Can’t wait for the last book in the trilogy.
Þórolfr's insight into our current world as explained throughout this is scary accurate, almost clairvoyant. Clear and eye opening explanations on how the bastion of freedom and wisdom in the world for such a long time, the West, has lost its way and is leading to its downfall as we speak.
Added to this amazingly insightful look at our current world are pages and pages of awe-inspiring history, a myriad of stories meant to make you laugh, or justifiably angry, and illustrations that seem to be handed down from the Æsir.
Men should take the warnings and imagery of this book very seriously.
Excitingly awaiting the continuation of this epic story, and to what I believe with be the Sagas for future generations of Víkingar.
Excellent read from start to finish. Every page, and the artwork, is captivating.
It's much like the first book but darker, more personal, and more violent.
Every story has a reason to be in there. Some evoked laughter, others furious anger, some are simple history - but it's all very informative and insightful. Especially if you read between the lines and understand what is being said.
Ultimately one of my favorite pieces of literature, along with the first book and some Sagas. Actually enjoyed it so much that I re-read the first book (which it is a prequel to) immediately after finishing. Highly recommend it and looking forward to the third installment.
Overall, this is another mind blowing novel from Thorolfr and I have to express my thanks to him for putting everything down on paper. As I said about the first book, it still remains true that this trilogy will be the most significant piece of Norse literature since the Sagas. I will forever hold these books close and share them with my sons when I finally have a pack of my own.
As I had mentioned before, the writing style is extremely cinematic. Reading more like a movie than a book. The way Thorolfr opens the novel and jumps around in time here and there really added a cool effect. Just had to add that speaking from a nerdy storytelling perspective. I cannot wait to be a part of the editing for the 3rd installment as well.
An amazing piece of literature, Chris has outdone himself. Even though it wasn't stated at the beginning of the book, once the chapters started flowing I could tell this was to be the prequel for the first book.
Really delving into Chris and also Dwayne's upbringing. Majority of course being for Chris and the tragic events/encounters that molded him to the unimaginable force he is.
The backstories and cohesiveness of the units really tie into the first book making it an even better masterpiece as well.
Really enjoyed the jump to thr future states, basically aligning with my own thoughts on how the world will end up.
Savages will always be Savages!!
Cucks will always be Cucks!!
And the unwavering good/hard men will always be the ones to make the ultimate sacrifice.
